Our bike carrier test in accordance with DIN 75303 simulates a realistic rear-end collision and provides a well-founded test report on the load capacity and stability of the carrier system.

The crash test according to DIN 75303 is part of the safety test for bike carriers and simulates a rear-end collision in order to evaluate the durability and safety of the carrier system in the event of an accident.

1. Test objective: Safety in the event of a crash

The bike carrier test checks whether the carrier and the mounted bikes remain firmly attached to the vehicle in the event of a defined impact:

remain firmly attached to the vehicle,

pose no danger to vehicle occupants or other road users,

do not detach completely from the carrier.

2. Structure and implementation

The carrier system is loaded with the maximum authorised load (e.g. 2 e-bikes, approx. 60 kg in total).

The vehicle (or a corresponding test rig structure) is subjected to a crash at a defined speed.

3. Typical test parameters

Speed 16 km/h: This speed corresponds to a typical rear-end collision situation.

Deceleration/impulse: typically around 10 g (i.e. 10 times the acceleration due to gravity) over a period of several seconds.

4. Assessment criteria

The carrier must not detach from the vehicle.

The bikes must remain secured and must not become completely detached from the carrier.

No dangerous parts may fly around.

The carrier can deform, but not in such a way that it poses a danger to traffic.

5. Documentation: test report

Photo and video recording.

Measurement of accelerations, forces and possibly movement paths of bikes.

The 16 km/h according to DIN 75303 is the minimum requirement.

Some manufacturers – like us – also have their bike carriers tested at higher impact speeds (e.g. 30 km/h).

However, the 16 km/h test is legally and normatively sufficient for approval in accordance with DIN 75303.

Tested safety – put your trust in the compact 2e+1

Our compact 2e+1 bike carrier was subjected to a crash test under realistic conditions in reference with DIN 75303. We adhered to the specified requirements – both in terms of the test setup and the load and impact force.

The standard stipulates that the carrier and the bikes being transported must remain securely attached to the vehicle in the event of an impact. In addition, no part weighing more than 10 grams may come loose – an important requirement for the protection of all road users.

Our compact 2e+1 fulfils these requirements effortlessly.
